Preface

Not long ago, a wealthy Christian friend, a retired famous doctor of medicine, died after a short period of serious illness.  Before he passed away, my mother and I preached the Gospel to him many times hoping that he would follow Jesus more closely.  He liked us to pray for him, because he believed in God’s miracle healing.  The first thing that came to my mind when I heard about his death was a question:  “Will he receive eternal life?”  I also questioned:  “Am I saved”?

I had thought of serving God full time in my 40’s; however, I believed that I had committed too much sin in my younger days and God might not accept me.  In 1990, my wife and I prayed that God would give us our last child.  We decided to dedicate this future child – if God would grant us one – to Him for His service.  About one year later, God granted us a baby boy, whom we named Jonathan.  We taught him Bible stories every night and sent him to a Christian school.  My wife and I have been encouraging him to become a preacher when he grows up.

But God had a plan for me.  In 1995, my wife, Jonathan and I had been participating in miracle healing services in Orlando, Florida.  During those services, we prayed for others as well as for ourselves that God would heal sickness.  At that time, I had been advised by my primary care doctor that I had a hernia.  The surgeon he recommended told me I had an urachal cyst.  Although we had seen many healing miracles, they had happened to others, not to me.

Things changed the morning of January 27, 1996.  I had burning pain from my naval to my upper abdomen.  I had a fever, and felt weak.  So I was rushed to a nearby hospital’s emergency room and underwent surgery.  Following the surgery, the pain in my upper abdomen still existed, but both my urologist and surgeon said the pain could have been caused by the surgery and would therefore go away after a few weeks.

On February 7, 1996, my surgeon told me that my pathology report showed that I had a rare and dangerous cancer.  When I heard the news, I instantly lost interest in everythingAll my plans for my family, especially for the four-year-old Jonathan, seemed no longer valid in a matter of seconds.  Our friend, the retired famous doctor of medicine, whom I mentioned earlier, was very worried about me.  He contacted my surgeon and many other doctors before he gave me his advice: “Make a will!”

My urologist, who was also a fishing partner of mine, advised me that he had already made an appointment for me to visit a famous Jewish professor, an experienced urologist, oncologist, and surgeon on the following Tuesday, February 13, 1996 for a second opinion.  That same evening, my sister’s family came to our house for a prayer meeting.  We also asked my preacher sister to join us via a long-distance conference call.  When it was my turn to pray, I was so desperate I shouted: “Jesus, Jesus why have You forsaken me?  Please, hear my prayer, I have cancer!  I need Your healing!”  Immediately, we felt the presence of the Holy Spirit among us.

Our prayers were answered.  Not only did Jesus save my life from terminal cancer, He also revealed himself to me many times, and those revelations have changed my life.

February 15, 1996, during my second surgery, I saw a tall man with white clothes standing in front of me while I was lying down I tried my best to look at his face, but I could see only his collar.  It was round, similar to the collar of a T-shirt, and was made of a light material like linen.

He spoke to me in English: John, you lived half of your life for yourself.  The remaining half, you will live for Me!”  The first thing that came to my mind was that the man implied that since I was 51 at that time, I would live to 102.  I asked myself:  Who was the tall man with white clothes?  He must be Jesus!

Later I asked my surgeons and anesthetists whether I might have been dreaming during the surgery.  They all told me it was not possible.  The surgeon who conducted my second surgery, a Jewish professor, told me that it was my spirit who had seen and heard this message.  He also told me that he had heard about other patients having similar experiences.

My second surgery, to remove part of my bladder and my naval, was intended to rectify any missing steps from my first surgery.  The surgeon conducting my first surgery was not aware I had an urachal cancer.  In my second surgery, in addition to the originally proposed scope of operation, the doctor removed three additional parts from my body.  I asked him if he removed them because the cancer had spread.  He told me he did it as a preventive measure, because he did not have proof at the time of surgery.  I explained that I had asked because I wanted to know whether Jesus healed me as we prayed, before I went to the second surgery.  He answered, “For this reason, the answer to your question is positive.”

Based on his expertise, the cancer could have spread, but four days after the second surgery, the pathology report confirmed that no malignancy was present.  This was truly a miracle!

The second time Jesus spoke to me was about three months after my second surgery.  It was a Sunday morning, and I was listening to a pastor’s preaching.  A clear voice came to my right ear.  Speaking in Shandong Dialect (close to Mandarin), my native language, the voice announced,You must stay alert and pray in order not to fall into temptation.  Peter denied Me three times because he did not stay alert and pray.”  I shouted: “Jesus!”

The third time I heard from Jesus was also when I was listening to a pastor’s preaching.  This happened to me on November 9, 1997.  The pastor was preaching about the request the mother of James and John made to Jesus.  The voice spoke to me in two parts.  The second part stated:Write down in the book that this book should not sit on the bookshelf.  After one has read it, it should be passed onto another.  I shall bless the person who passes this book to another.” Clearly, God wants everyone who can read, to read this book.

Messenger of good news,
shout to Zion from the
mountaintops!
Shout louder to Jerusalem –
do not be  afraid.
Tell the towns of Judah,
Your God is coming!”
Yes, the Sovereign Lord is coming

in all his glorious power.
He will rule with awesome strength.
See, he brings His reward with Him as He comes.

(Isaiah 40:9 – 10)

The Jews should encourage each other to find their Messiah in this book:

Let the ruins of Jerusalem break into joyful
song, for the Lord has comforted His people.  He has redeemed Jerusalem.  the Lord will demonstrate His holy power before the eyes of all the nations.  The ends of the earth will see the salvation of our God.

(Isaiah 52:9 – 10)

The Lord says, Shout and rejoice, O Jerusalem, for I am coming to live among you.  Many nations will join themselves to the Lord on that day, and they, too, will be my people.  I will live among you, and you will know that the Lord Almighty sent me to you.

(Zechariah 2:10 – 11)

The fourth time Jesus talked to me was on Sunday morning, February 21, 1999.  About five minutes before the start of morning service I prayed to thank God, not because He had healed my mother’s bad cough, but for listening to my prayer.  I heard a voice say: Yes, I heard each and every word of your prayers.”  What an awesome God!

Each time Jesus spoke to me it was so clear.  Unlike dreams, which I always forgot when I woke up, it was spirit talking to spirit with thorough understanding and no distortion.

In order to remove all the obstacles and barriers between God and man and to create a “direct relationship” with God, I suggest that you keep your mind completely open when reading this book.  Pay particular attention when reading God’s words quoted in the text and to put aside all doctrines created by man (either by your church, pastor, school, denomination, relatives or friends).

This book was initiated by God Himself and written under His instructions.  It reveals many of God’s own secretsEvery reader may find his or her Messiah or Savior in this book.

It serves as a “banner” and a “whistle” to the Jews (see Isaiah 5:26, 11:11- 12, and Zechariah 10:8).

To Gentiles, it acts as a “key” to the door (see John 10:9).

And I urge you to hurry, since I believe this door may close very soonThis book is intended to serve as a forerunner of Jesus’ return and a compass to guide the reader to eternal life.  It was written not by human wisdom but under the guidance and inspiration of the Holy Spirit.

In 2000, when this book was in its final editing stage, the Holy Spirit told me to read the Book of Isaiah.  As I had just completed reading the first 45 chapters of Isaiah, the Holy Spirit instructed me to go back to the beginning.  At that moment, I had already taken many notes on Isaiah 18:3-4; 32:1-3; 40:9-10; 41:8-16 and 44:6.  The Holy Spirit then led me to Isaiah 29:18 –  In that day deaf people will hear words read from a book and blind people will see through the gloom and darkness.”

Did Isaiah prophesy about this book 2700 years ago?

Sometimes I wonder why Jesus gave such an important delegation to a broken vessel like me.  Certainly my words cannot lead anyone to God.  Only God’s own words can lead His believers to the destination He promised.

God’s words contained herein have been selected from both the Old and New Testaments.  In order to minimize readers’ efforts, I’ve quoted a total of 1686 verses of the Holy Bible.  All these quoted verses are used to form twelve topics, one topic per chapter.  There are no deviations and omissions from the Holy Bible.  The quoted Bible verses are taken mainly from the New Living Translation, with a smaller portion from the New King James Version.  No matter what the translation, though, God is always the same from the beginning to the end.  He does not change His ways today from yesterdayNor will He change tomorrow.  He said:  I am the Lord, and I do not change.  That is why you descendants of Jacob are not already completely destroyed.”  (Malachi 3:6; see also Psalm 102:27, Hebrews 1:12, and James 1:17)

As He always has, God chooses today to heal His people by replacing their hardened hearts with softened hearts.  Today He also heals His people by removing all obstacles so they can hear and see clearly.  (see Psalm 95:7-8, Isaiah 6:9-10, Ezekiel 36:26-27, John 12:40, and Hebrews 3:7-8)

Those who wish to move closer to God and be rewarded with eternal life can find God’s “secret” instructions herein.  (see Isaiah 40:10; 62:11; Matthew 7:14, 21; John 6:37-40; and Revelation 22:12)

Only the Holy Spirit can reveal God’s own secrets

There are many secrets explained in this book.  They seem to be ancient treasures just being discovered.  On June 29, 1999, the Holy Spirit gave me a message regarding two different Promised Lands, one in the Old Covenant, and the other in the New Covenant.  Details can be found later in this book.

If  you have already decided to follow Jesus, I wish to share with you scriptures fundamental to my faith:  “But those who endure to the end will be saved” (Matthew 24:13), and “Remain faithful even when facing death, and I will give you the crown of life.” (Revelation 2:10)

God always lets us make our own choices.  However, if you haven’t accepted Jesus as your Savior or Messiah, you owe it to yourself to read this book.  Although we are approaching the time of the Second Coming of Jesus (also known as “the end of the world”), no one knows the exact date and time except God himself.  On the other hand, no one knows the exact date of his or her own death.  In order to be awarded with the eternal life rather than to be cast into everlasting hell, “the lake of fire,” it is only logical and wise to make preparations today before the door closes.

As I said, we never know when the door will close.  My urologist died suddenly in a car accident on March 3, 1999 at the age of 48.

I was very sad at his funeral service.  It was not simply because I’d lost a friend, but because I had asked him many times to follow Jesus, but he never gave a positive response.  The last time I asked him was about 10 days before his death.  He again declined, telling me: “I still enjoy my sinful life.  When I feel ready in the future, I’ll go to the church with you and read the Holy Bible.”  He assumed that he had plenty of time to make his decision.  He didn’t!

I wish my friend had embraced the example of my faithful Christian mother.  She led me closer to God every minute for more than six years.  Even in her last days, when she was suffering from severe pain and agony due to gastric cancer, she did not fail to spread the Gospel to friends and members of the younger generation.  Her faithful endurance gave glory to God.  She asked the younger generations:  “Must Jesus bear the cross alone?”  She also reminded us to prepare ourselves for eternal life:  Stop loving this evil world and all that it offers you, for when you love the world, you show that you do not have the love of the Father in you.  For the world offers only the lust for physical pleasure, the lust for everything we see, and pride in our possessions.  These are not from the Father.  They are from this evil world.  And this world is fading away, along with everything it craves.  But if you do the will of God, you will live forever.” (1 John 2:15 -17)

About 930 years before Christ, the wisest, richest and most influential king of Israel, Solomon, documented about death in the first three segments of the following Holy Bible versus:

For there is no more remembrance of the wise than of the fool forever, since all that now is will be forgotten in the days to come.  And how does a wiseman die?
As a fool!
(Ecclesiastes 2:16 NKJV)

For the living know that they will die; but the dead know nothing.  And they have no more reward, for the memory of them is forgotten.
(Ecclesiastes 9:5 NKJV)

Whatever your hands finds to do, do it with your might; for there is no work or device or knowledge or wisdom in the grave where you are going.
(Ecclesiastes 9:10 NKJV)

Jesus said:  “And how do you benefit if you gain the whole world but lose your own soul in the process?
Is anything worth more than your soul?”

(Matthew 16:26)
